According to statistics, yesterday, 8th December 2008 – or ‘Mega Monday’ as it is now known, was the busiest day ever for online purchases (and probably online fraud as well!) in the history of the internet. After the shops had shut people headed for their computers and street lights across the world could be seen to go dim as they powered up their hard drives.
Did you notice anything? if you have a website and are selling online (if not, why not?) did you notice an increase in your traffic or was it a damp squib?
In my case I noticed a 100% increase in visitors to the previous day – can you beat that? We want to know.

A couple were having a discussion about what to see and do now that they were safely in Florida on their honeymoon. Trying to assert himself right off the bat, he exploded, “If it weren’t for my money, we wouldn’t be here at all!” The wife replied, “My dear, if it weren’t for your money, not only would we not be in Florida, we wouldn’t be on honeymoon, nor would there be any “we” in the first place.”

The lights are up in the Quarter. They’ve gone for a jewellery theme this year. Clever little animated dots of light that seem to give no indication that they are meant to represent Christmas at all.
Is this a clever marketing ploy giving subliminal messages to visitors to push them to spend more or have they completely missed the point of Christmas?
What do you think? Would you prefer Christmas lights that look Christmassy and tacky or arty #arty designer type? We want to know.

It may be possible that years ago as a lad, rummaging around my parents garden with my trusty magnifying glass, waiting for those elusive rays of Summer sunlight so that I could start my next fire or frazzle a poor unsuspecting ant, that the very act of starting those fires that plagued the neighbourhood, could have been the humble beginnings of what laser technology has become today.
I may not have been thinking of building a machine that was capable of laser joining inlays or laser engraving intricate patterns on rings at the time, but I may have been responsible for a catalogue of achievements that led to their development – don’t forget, you read it here first on the GETi Blog.

Always last to jump on the bandwagon and never failing to disappoint by trying out this new-fangled blogging thingy, we thought we would give it a go to see what happens.
As our first subject we discover that Royal Mail are sky-testing a new prototype, across the pond, carrier pigeon system to enhance (or possibly replace) their already popular ‘International Signed For’ service. A fleet of genetically modified carrier pigeons are standing by to whisk your valued packages to the other side of beyond in a record breaking 7 weeks with only 7,000 pit stops. Will it take off? Let us read your comments and remember – you saw it here first, tell your friends
